Film Screening: Small Town Universe
FREE! No registration required.
Saturday, August 3rd, 6 PM in the Green Bank Science Center Auditorium; a public reception with the film’s director, Katie Dellamaggiore, will follow.
Small Town Universe is a documentary film that paints an intimate portrait of life in our small but dynamic community here in Green Bank, West Virginia. Featuring interviews and stories from local residents, the film explores the wide variety of ways the Green Bank Observatory has shaped life here in our county, ranging from the economic and employment opportunities offered by a high-tech research and development facility to the impacts of the limited availability of wireless communication created by the nation’s only Radio Quiet Zone. “Within the telescope’s orbit, Green Bank residents experience defining moments of life and loss and explore their connection to the universe, science, and each other,” writes Dellamaggiore.
The film premiered at the Cleveland International Film Festival in April. Join us as we welcome it home for the debut screening in Green Bank!
