Use Ariel for GBT Observations


The Green Bank Observatory is in the process of upgrading to Red Hat 8 (RH8). We are in the next phase of the process and observations now need to be done with the current RH8 machine Ariel

Observing: Please use Ariel only when actively observing with the GBT (no data processing) and please remember to shut down your observing applications (AstrID, CLEO etc.) when your observing session is finished. Titania will temporarily remain a RH7 machine, until it will be upgraded to RH8 during the final stages of the RH8 deployment. 

Data processing: Over the next few weeks, the remaining RH7 machines at GBO will be migrated to RH8. For data reduction, we will support running both RH7 and RH8 versions of data processing software that is supported by the GBO Software Development Division (SDD) until all machines are at RH8.
