In conjunction with the Space Race Rumpus, GBO invites you to enjoy the view of West Virginia’s beautiful night sky! If weather allows, Observatory staff will be available to help you look through optical telescopes to view the moon and stars.

Star parties are free, but please sign in at the Science Center. Star parties generally start 30-45 minutes after sunset – check the events calendar each month for specific start times. Observing will last until 10:30 p.m. Doors will open 15 minutes before we start.

The star party will be cancelled if clouds or rain prevail. Check the forecast before you travel, and we’ll provide an update on the GBO Facebook page by 5PM the day of the party if the weather is looking uncooperative.
