Sunday, September 22nd, from 1-5:30 PM;

Join us for a day of FREE tours, family activities, and rocket launching with the Valley AeroSpace Team! Fun for all ages!

All events are free, but space is limited for some options. Registration will start at 12:45 in front of the Science Center. Here’s the current schedule, but stay tuned for updates!

  • 1-3 PM: Build a Rocket with Highland County’s Valley AeroSpace Team! Launching will begin after 3:30
  • 1-4 PM : Free Tours and Activities!
    • GBT Ground Tours and Control Room Tours will be offered every half-hour: this is your chance to get inside the gate to walk around the GBT or go behind-the-scenes for a peek at GBT control room operations.
    • Hands-on Family Activities will be offered on a drop-in basis
  • 2:45 Ask Me Anything (. . . About Black Holes!) What have you always wanted to know about black holes? One of our astronomers will be on hand to answer YOUR questions. Whether you are 5 years old or 55, questions from all levels of knowledge and curiosity are welcome!
  • 3:15 Cake Cutting! Join us as we celebrate the golden anniversary of the discovery of Sagittarius A*, the Black Hole at the center of our very own Milky Way Galaxy.
  • 4PM: we’ll show our 2nd screening of the documentary film Small Town Universe. Run time 90 min.
  • The Exhibit Hall, Galaxy Gift Shop, and Starlight Café are open until 5:30 PM. Last hot meal orders must be placed by 5PM.
