GBO/AO Single Dish Training School: September 13-17 (Monday - Friday) GBT Training Workshop: September 18-20 (Saturday - Monday)
Applications will be open from July 1 to August 1. As there are a limited number of spaces available, we will review applications and alert accepted participants in early August 2021. If we have more applicants than spaces available, we will prioritize attendance by (1) graduate students, (2) applicants with single dish telescope proposals under review or who are actively using archival data, (3) professional scientists looking to gain understanding of the single dish telescopes before submitting a proposal in a future call, (4) all other applicants.
This virtual workshop is intended for new observers to learn how to proposal for this instrument as well as returning observers interested in learning the most up-to-date capabilities of the GBT. We will discuss current GBT capabilities, the proposal submission tool, have live demos of the sensitivity and mapping calculators, and share tips for writing a good proposal.
For those who cannot make the July 12th virtual workshop or you have more questions after attending the July 12th workshop, we are offering an office hour on July 15th. We will have the video of the July 15th workshop up on the workshop page by Wednesday, July 13th. When you register for this office hour, we will send you an email that the video is up online on the proposal planning workshop page, you can watch it over the next day, then come to the office hour with any questions you might have.
