SUMMARY:Jansky Lecture
DESCRIPTION:\nExploring the Dusty Origins of Star Clusters\n\n\n\nPlease join us for the 60th Annual Jansky Lecture at the Green Bank Observatory!  The National Radio Astronomy Observatory is pleased to award the 2025 Karl G. Jansky Lectureship to  Professor Jean Turner, Research Professor, Emerita at the University of California, Los Angeles.  \n\n\n\nProfessor Turner is recognized for her groundbreaking research in radio astronomy, with a focus on star formation, molecular clouds, and the interstellar medium. The largest star clusters in our Milky Way galaxy, globular clusters, contain approximately a million stars! Professor Turner will talk with us about the work she has done over the past 5 decades to better understand how these giant clusters form. \n\n\n\nMonday, November 3rd, at 7PM in the Green Bank Science Center Auditorium. \n\n\n\nFREE! No registration required. \n\n\n\nA light reception will follow the lecture. If skies are clear, we will host a short Star Party during the reception to give guests an opportunity to view a star cluster through our optical telescopes.\n\n\n\nThe Jansky Lectureship is an honor established by the trustees of Associated Universities, Inc. to recognize outstanding contributions to the advancement of radio astronomy.  Professor Turner’s work has advanced our understanding of the structure and dynamics of star-forming regions in both the Milky Way and nearby galaxies through high-resolution radio and millimeter-wave observations.\n\n\n\n To learn more, visit https://science.nrao.edu/science/jansky-lecture\n\n                function masterqrCurrentPAge(){new QRCode(document.getElementById("masterqrPost"),{text: "https://greenbankobservatory.org", width: 133, height: 133, colorDark: "#000000", colorLight:"#ffffff", PI: "#000000", PO: "#000000", AI: "#000000", AO: "#000000", PI_TL: "#000000", PO_TL: "#000000", logo: "", logoWidth: 55, logoHeight: 55, logoBackgroundTransparent: true, backgroundImage: "", dotScale: "0.6", timing: "#000000", timing_V: "#000000", backgroundImageAlpha: "0.3",});}masterqrCurrentPAge();
